This is a one-of-a-kind event that allows martial artists to learn from a wide range of experts from the Eugene/ Springfield area and around the Pacific Northwest. Sponsored by Best Martial Arts Institute, PacMAC brings our martial arts community together to train and exchange ideas. Teen and adult students of all martial arts are welcome. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience so many styles under one roof! Classes are 25 minutes long with a 5-minute break in between. |

First Friday ArtWalk offers a unique monthly tour of galleries and art venues in downtown Eugene, and features interviews with exhibiting artists. The February ArtWalk is led by digital artist and photographer Melissa Nolledo, who is also the coordinator of the Asian Celebration art exhibit and president of the Asian Council. The ArtWalk begins at Eugene Storefront Art Project (224 E. 11th), followed by stops at Oregon Art Supply (1020 Pearl), Out on a Limb Gallery (191 E. Broadway), Goldworks Jewelry Art Studio (169 E. Broadway), and Imagine Gallery (35 E. 8th). |

Aloha Friday is a free gathering and variety show for people who love Hawai’i, on the third Friday of each month. The March event centers around the history of early Hawaiians who came to the Northwest in the 1800s and left a legacy of pioneer spirit and family. Steve Williamson, historian with the Asian Celebration, will be joined by Gloria Nahalea, who has studied this topic extensively. Music and hula will be provided by Gloria’s group, Na Pua and Friends, from Seattle. The evening will open with an open mic on the theme “Songs of Change.” |

DisOrient is a social justice film festival dedicated to deconstructing the media stereotypes of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans as “Orientals.” We believe in the power of film-as-art to educate, heal and improve the lives of people by giving voice to their experiences. Started in 2006 by artists, educators, and activists, DisOrient is a grassroots and volunteerrun film festival committed to presenting honest portrayals of the diversity of the Asian and Pacific Islander American experience. When selecting new and exciting films for our festival, we use the W.E.B. DuBois standard of “for us, by us, or about us.” |
